At Cubitt Town Infants School, the safety and well-being of every child is our top priority.  We have a duty of care for every child that attends our school and we expect all staff, governors and visitors to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.  We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. There may be times that we have to consult with other agencies.  We will ensure that all concerns are discussed with parents/carers first, before any referrals are made, unless we believe that this will put a child's safety or well-being at risk.

We promote a culture of 'Safeguarding Is Everybody's Responsibility' in our school.  Everyone who comes in to contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in keeping them safe and healthy. All staff are trained in Child Protection and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns.

To promote a safe environment for pupils:

1. All staff are subject to Disclosure and Barring checks

2. All visitors must enter via the main entrance, sign in using our electronic system and wear a badge at all times

3. All new staff, visitors or volunteers are given an induction leaflet outlining safeguarding systems in our school

4. Visitors are asked to turn off their mobile phones on site

  • We understand that at times you might see or hear things that raise concerns about another family or in our school.  In this situation please come and talk confidentially to one of our named persons for safeguarding.

  • If you have concerns about a member of staff then please speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team.  If you have a concern regarding the Headteacher then this should be addressed with the Chair of Governors.
  • We understand that at times things might become difficult at home.  If you feel you need support or someone to talk to then please contact the school and ask to speak to the Headteacher or Jacqui Jenkins (Parent Liaison Coordinator).
