In March 2022 our school will amalgamate with Cubitt Town Junior School to become Cubitt Town Primary School. Our curriculum has therefore been designed to be the starting point of the children's learning journey throughout their primary school years, and the knowledge that the children acquire in our units is revisited, recapped and expanded in the curriculum over Years 3 to 6. Click here to see the intent statement and history curriculum for these years.
Our history curriculum begins with an exploration of changes within the children's lifetime in Early Years, to then look at how houses have changed over time in Year 1 and then to how London has changed over time in Year 2, as well investigating another period of history, the Victorian era. In addition the themes of rights and fairness and how our rights have changed over time are explored, and we celebrate those who have stood up for and defended our rights.
Year 1 children have been learning about how homes have changed over time. As well as looking at the outside of old and new homes the children have been exploring how homes might have looked inside. We have been looking at everyday objects we have in our homes and discovering what these objects looked like in Victorian times and what they look like now, and why they might have changed. We have been using our great oracy skills to describe how these objects have changed over time.
