FOODBANK COLLECTION POINT LAUNCH AT CUBITT TOWN COMMUNITY HOUSE
A group of parents who attended our Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities Parenting Course in July 2016, explored different ways of how they could help strengthen our community. The group decided that they would like to start collecting food for the Tower Hamlets Foodbank all year round to help families, as well as at Harvest Festival time.
A collection basket is located in the main entrance of our community house for parents to donate food within the school day. We also have a basket located next to our fruit and vegetable stall on Thursdays too. If you would also like to collect food for the Foodbank, here is what you can do.
You can help by donating in date, long life, non-perishable food & toiletries
The most needed items:
Long life Milk, Long life Juice/Cordial/Squash
Tinned Fruit, Tinned Vegetables, Mashed Potato
Cooking Sauce e.g. Curry, Pasta Sauce
Honey, Custard, Rice Pudding
Shampoo, Shower Gel
A huge thank you to all of the families who have donated food and parents Amanda, Bindu, Claire, Jacolene, Kerry, Vicky, and Tahmina, for their commitment to help families/people in crisis in Tower Hamlets.
If you would like to donate directly to the Tower Hamlets Food Bank please telephone
The Cubitt Town Food Co-op was launched on Thursday 28 April working in partnership with the Seeds for Growth charity and the NHS. The food co-op offers local access to fresh, affordable fruit and vegetables to improve diet for both children and parents from both the Infant & Junior schools.
There was a huge crowd at the launch with many parents snapping up the healthy fresh bargains, often asking their children to choose what to buy. The fresh food will always be bought on the day of the co-op from Spitalfields wholesale market. All the food is sold at very affordable prices every Thursday (term-time only).
