We are proud to announce that Cubitt Town Infant & Junior Schools 'ALL Project’, working in Partnership with My Time Active, was chosen as one of three finalists, out of 500 applications submitted to Royal Society of Public Health Awards 2017. The awards were held in the East Winter Garden in Canary Wharf on Thursday 19th October.
Active Local Links is a project based on the Isle of Dogs that sets out to address health inequalities through asset-based community development.
The project started off in October 2015, with 12 mums, the parent liaison officer from Cubitt Town Infant & Junior Schools, and the Tower Hamlets public health team.
Through challenging volunteer mums to find out about the opportunities, and share them across their social networks, working in Partnership with Tower Hamlets Public Health, Us Creates and My Time Active-Active Local Links was born. Mytime Active formally stepped in to support it in August 2016, with a lead officer specializing in co-producing a range of community-led activities, working in partnership with London Sport, I am Tower Hamlets, Tower Hamlets Youth Sports Foundation, Docklands Sailing Centre, GFK Research & Seeds for Growth
The activities include; 12 Mums learning how to Sail at the Docklands Sailing Centre
12 Mums achieving a Royal Yachting Association
Level 1 Qualification
Parents teaching other Parents/Carers to Sail
Sailing Project – Appeared in a “This Girl Can Campaign”
Keep Fit Classes
GFK Research – Helping parents/carers to get back to work
Food Coop- Parent Volunteers selling fruit and vegetables to our families and the local community
